Introduction to the Search Page
The Search page helps you quickly find organizations, facilities, programs, and destinations based on your interests and needs. You can filter results by type and activity, and view detailed information for each item, including descriptions, contact details, and available actions such as visiting websites, viewing schedules, or requesting bookings.
Results are displayed in a sortable table, allowing you to organize listings by name, community, type, or activity. For each item, you can access more information, contact options, and relevant links directly from the table. The page is designed to be responsive, with additional details and actions available for both desktop and mobile users.
Use the filters at the top of the page to refine your search, and explore the results to find the resources and opportunities that best suit your needs. If you need help, click the Help button at the top of the page for guidance.
User Actions
Type dropdown: Select a type from the list to filter the search results by type. When you select a new type, the page will automatically update to show results matching your selection.
Activity dropdown: Select an activity from the list to filter the search results by activity. When you select a new activity, the page will automatically update to show results matching your selection.
Search bar: Enter keywords or phrases to search for specific items. Use this to narrow down the results based on your search terms.
Table column headers (Community Name, Name, Type, Activity): Click on any of these column headers to sort the search results by that column. Clicking a header will reload the results, sorted by the selected column.
Organization, Facility, Program, or Destination name and logo: Click on the name or logo of an item to open its details page in a new tab. The link destination varies depending on the type of item.
More Info button (visible on mobile or small screens): Tap the information icon to open a pop-up window with more details about the item, including its description and contact options.
In the More Info pop-up:
- Email link: Click to open your email client and send an email to the listed address.
- Website link: Click to visit the organization's website in a new tab.
- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn links: Click to visit the organization's social media pages in a new tab.
- Schedule link (calendar icon): Click to view the organization's schedule or facility calendar in a new tab.
- Request Booking Capability (door icon, for facilities): If you are signed in and the facility is bookable, click to request booking access.
- Equipment link (backpack icon): Click to view or request equipment, depending on the organization's settings.
- Close button: Click to close the pop-up window.
Actions button (visible on large screens): Click to open a dropdown menu with various actions you can take for each item.
In the Actions dropdown menu:
- Email: Click to open your email client and send an email to the listed address.
- Website: Click to visit the organization's website in a new tab.
- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn: Click to visit the organization's social media pages in a new tab.
- Schedule: Click to view the organization's schedule in a new tab.
- Facility Schedule: Click to view the facility's calendar in a new tab (for facilities).
Dropdown Menus
On this page, you will see the following dropdown menus:
Type Dropdown
- Purpose: This dropdown allows you to filter the search results by the type of organization or facility you are interested in. For example, you might want to see only community organizations, facilities, or programs.
- Options: The options in this dropdown include different types of organizations or facilities, such as "Community Sport Organization," "Provincial Organization," "Community Organization," "Facility," "Program," and "Destination." The exact options may vary depending on what is available.
Activity Dropdown
- Purpose: This dropdown lets you filter the search results by the type of activity offered. This helps you find organizations, facilities, or programs that match your interests.
- Options: The options in this dropdown include various activities, such as specific sports or recreational activities. The list of activities will depend on what is available in the system.
Actions Dropdown (in the results table)
- Purpose: For each search result, there is an "Actions" dropdown menu that provides quick links to interact with the organization or facility.
- Options: The options in this dropdown vary depending on what information is available for each result. Common options include:
- Email: Send an email to the organization or facility.
- Website: Visit their website.
- Social Media: Links to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn if available.
- Schedule: View the schedule for programs or facilities.
- Request Booking: Request booking access for a facility (if you are logged in and eligible).
- Equipment: Access equipment-related features if available.
These dropdown menus are designed to help you filter and interact with the search results more easily. All dropdowns are visible and accessible to users on the page.
